I like this product a lot. The only thing is it shakes a little too much and is at its last click for tightness on my droid incredible, but it still is a great design! Doesn't vibrate or drop the phone or fall off. Haven't tried the dash mount yet but with it working so well in the vent I doubt I will. I ordered the mount for my HTC Thunderbolt with an extended battery (so it's thicker than normal). I was hoping to use the vent mount, but the vent mount is pretty poorly designed. I bought this after checking out the positive reviews from other purchasers. I'm happy to report that the smartphone mount lived up to the hype.
Overall, these are quality and the suction cup stays on unless you really beat on it. I would recommend this mount for all users to keep your phone secure in the car.
It wouldn't work in my car at all. Finally, the mount holds your phone by gripping the left and right sides of the device. Other than that, it's very adjustable, and easy to use. It's a perfect fit for the Droid X. All of the mounts work with the included holding piece. I'll review each piece separately. Blowing hot air behind it is probably not a good idea. Use a sun shield when parked, all plastics don't last long under the sun.
It does not feel substantial, and the material seems ho-hum, nothing special. But as soon I put this suction cup on the windshield, adjusted the arm, and tightened the mount down in place, my hefty Galaxy SII 4G Touch, WITH hard plastic case, doesn't budge a bit. It goes on a clean windshield and stays there. The ball joint that connects the mount with an adapter for the cell phone holder is adjustable in tightness and can be rotated for optimal view. I was skeptical when I ordered this windshield mount, even though it has gotten positive reviews. I've paid more than that at a mall for a mount that rattled when I drove and fell apart when I touched it the wrong way. It seems pretty durable. Please note, though, that if you live in a cold weather area (like I do) the suction tends to not work as well if you leave it out in the cold.
I point this out because the bottom arms have the potential to cover the microphone (it's a near thing) on an uncased phone. That said, the side supports are "grippy" enough that they can hold it up if needed (or you can place it on its side).
Despite its poor design, it does function properly as a mount with my Samsung Galaxy S 4G. I clipped this onto my vent and am surprised at how well it works.
