By Allyson Westcot

A PC station in an office or home is typically equipped with a spread of accessories that are typically utilized like printers, scanners and other gizmos. People who use mobile rugged don't have the benefit of a designated station for all of the gear. Any accessories need to be rugged laptops and mobile, too.

The most common accessories are obviously a mobile printer and scanner. Mobile printers don't need ink cartridges like home printers, and take up a nominal amount of space. Resolutions are usually in either 20 or 30 dpi, dependent on the quality of the print material you need.

Bluetooth technology and software that makes the scanned documents easy to use in assorted word processing or spreadsheet programs can be gotten in many kinds of hand held scanners, making them a good option.

Printers and scanners can make a mobile set up feel like a genuine office on a tight schedule. But there are some other accessories that a rugged system owner might be able to use for better and comfortable computing.

Laptop cases must also be tough and built to last. Most rugged systems don't require a case, as the PC case itself provides sufficient protection. A spread of cases are available for those who want them, however. Docking stations designed for precise brands can also turn out to be handy and give the user a place to dock the portable computer for charging, syncing and other jobs.

A further accessory that might be useful for those in public areas is a blocking plate. This covers the base of the laptop to block access to things like ports and drives. Usually some variety of adaptor is available or attached that will permit the computer to be docked in a docking station. In some cases, a docking station attachment can act as a stabilizer for the screen. This is ideal for computers that'll be used in high vibration areas.
